Aviation Ministry Clarifies Two Airport Certification in Nigeria

The Nigerian aviation ministry has given clarification of the recent certification of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, revealing that the exercises were carried out by the Nigerian Civil Aviation authority (NCAA).

The ministry noted in a statement that the certification was in line with “Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (NCARS) Part 12,  ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices and provisions of Annex 14.”

The statement read: “Please recall the recent certification of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja which are milestones in the nation’s aviation industry.

“However it is pertinent to clarify that the exercises were carried out by the Nigerian Civil Aviation authority (NCAA) and not the International Civil Aviation organisation  (ICAO).

“The certification of the two airports was implemented  by Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority in line with Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (NCARS) Part 12,  ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices and provisions of Annex 14.

“The Ministry expresses absolute confidence in the capacity and capability of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority to carry out its regulatory duties and pledges its commitment to further improve its enablement to keep up the good job”, the Ministry stated.
