The six zonal governors from the South West geo-political zones of Nigeria on Wednesday at a meeting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, agreed to present a common position on the proposed constitutional amendment that would represent their interest of the zone.
Present at the meeting were Governors Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo, Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (Ondo) , Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti) and Akinwumi Ambode (Lagos). Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State was represented by his Deputy, Mrs. Yetunde Onanuga.
The spokesman of the Governors, who spoke to journalists on the import of the parley, Akeredolu said the meeting discussed the common interests of the region as Oduduwas.
“We are from Oduduwa. All of us being brothers, are finding solutions to matters that are of common interest to all of us and we are doing it together.
“We want to present a common position and have our Houses of Assemblies and other stakeholders who believe in us to come along with us on issues we believe are fundamental to our interest”, he said.
